Unfortunately it turned out to be a crappy day with rain or drizzle the whole time I was there, so birding was limited. The water level is finally being let down there, and mudflats are beginning to appear at the north end near Pancoastburg. spent an hour and a half flushing sparrows. Had a couple of possible
LeConte's sightings but never long enough to ID. (Neither of us had seen
one before. Or still, for that matter.) Lots of song sparrows,
though. Also a couple of snipe, at least six meadowlarks flying around
together (and singing a bit), and four bluebirds flying overhead.
