Debbie,
Cisco's Auto-negotiate has been (in my experience) lacking for quite some
time, no matter what device... If you do a Show Interface <mod/port> on the
device, I am quite certain you will see quite an occurrence of FCS and
Alignment errors.
Best practice is to hard code both ends to Gig/Full. Then both will match
speed/duplex and kill this as a problem
(config t, Int gig<mod/Port>, Speed 1000, Duplex full)

Subject: Hardware Question
All,
We have our CCA servers auto-negotiating speed and duplex with a Cisco 4948.
The 4948 shows that the ports are getting gig speed, but the server shows
100Base-Tx. Can anyone offer any insight here? Is that all that the server
is capable of showing? We really need to make sure that they are connecting
at gig speed.
Thanks!
Debbie
