Hey all -
Birded around Lorain Harbor this afternoon. I was
hoping that there would still be a bit off open water
around, and there was still a sliver out near the
breakwall. This strip of open water was jam-packed
with Common Mergs (500+) and a few other ducks
highlighted by Tundra Swan (5) and Black Scoter (5).
As I was there, this patch of open water was closing
up by the minute. There were also a couple patches
kept open by bubblers at the smaller marina, holding
about 20 coots and 3 Pied-billeds. The hoped-for
Harlequins were not seen.
Good birding -
