Since I moved a little more than a month ago, I've been pleased at how
rapidly birds have found my feeders and come regularly through the day.
Today, however, I was surprised to see a somewhat out of season Brown
Thrasher gleaning whatever seed the White-throated Sparrows had left
behind in the leaf litter at the back of my lot. He was there for only a
short time, but I'll keep an eye out for him in the coming cold days.
Other visitors have been a bit more mundane, but still fun to watch,
with regular gorging on the suet feeder by a pair of Carolina Wrens and
visits to the holly bush by a Northern Mockingbird -- until he finished
all the berries. Otherwise 8-12 Northern Cardinals, 5-6 White-throated
Sparrows, 3 Gold Finches, and a single Song Sparrow grab what they can
from the House Sparrows.
