We, who have survived the almost revolutionary period of the 60's -and its attendant calls for Black, Feminist, Gay, Brown, Tan, Yellow, and International rights - have heard an endless call to arms. We have shouted from the belfries, and marched from the cathedrals, we have sat-in and cried out to those with power. We have striven to give the subaltern a voice, while seeking to hear that voice from the back rooms, the back streets, and the back alleys of our dimly lit portals into reality. But the question yet remains, can the subaltern speak? If so, what is being said and who is listening?
