two (2) piping plovers were observed at headlands beach state park this morning (05/01/2007). one early bird was briefly noted flying eastward early in the morning (about 6:45 am) and a (presumably) second bird was found about 9:15 am on the east end of the swimming beach by jim mcconnor, jerry talkington, and me. this bird was extensively photographed and had two bands on its right leg - one aluminum band and a turquoise band under ths aluminum band. if anyone knows where this piping plover was banded, please post to this listserv. thank you
