10113 23 35_Nighthawks at the diner in Columbus16_Steven [log in to unmask], 23 Aug 2007 14:17:46 -0700412_iso-8859-1 Hi all, Yesterday evening my wife and I were treated to a flock of approx. 25 Nighthawks flying west near Weber and Indianola in Columbus. We also enjoyed 3 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds quarreling over our feeder. One seemed very interested in what I was and would hover about 18 inches from my face. Very cool! This morning, at 7:45, I discovered a seasonally-challenged white-phase Snow
Goose at Maumee Bay State Park near Toledo. It was wandering around the
grass and sand near the inland lake (which is near the main beach area). I
watched and photographed it for a while, then switched my attention to a nearby
flock of gulls and terns. When I turned back to look for the goose a few minutes
later, it had disappeared.
The boardwalk at Magee Marsh was very quiet, with the only highlight being a
Prothonotary Warbler. A Solitary Sandpiper was nabbing insects from a large
puddle in the parking lot.
