The Department of African American Studies at the
UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS AT CHICAGO seeks a full-time,
tenure track assistant professor position in black
popular culture beginning August 2008.  The committee
is interested in applicants specializing in film and
media studies, visual culture, music, historical and
contemporary approaches to popular youth cultures
and  US/diaspora cultural exchanges.  Interdisciplinary
and queer studies foci are welcome. Interested applicants
should submit a letter of application, curriculum
vitae, three letters of recommendation and a writing
