The Mountwood Bird Club braved the cold weather today to check the birds on what we call the Duck Route - along the Muskingum River from Marietta, OH to about 5 miles above Lowell, OH. Those along were Barb Hohman, Eula Elliot, Allan Elberfeld, Pat Collins, Jon Benedetti, Gene and Jeanie Hilton, and Dick and Jeanette Esker. We had a good selection of ducks but not a lot in numbers. There were two Bald Eagles at the Devola Dam - one adult and one juvenile. Some "unusual" sightings were a pair of Red-tailed Hawks perched side-by-side, almost touching, on a limb; a nice flock of Horned Larks along with four Eastern Meadowlarks; and several flocks of Yellow-rumped Warblers.
