Friday, August 14 - 9:15 - 10:30 a.m.
Still lots of shorebirds. Mudflats drying up quickly, but we're supposed
to have rain this weekend. Hopefully, the weatherman will be correct for a
change. Sightings were from the far south end at the "disc golf"
overlook, the paved parking lot, and the far north end.
Herring gull - 1
Caspian tern - 1
Least sp - 10
Solitary - 23
Pectoral - 25
Great egret - 3
Killdeer - lots!
Wood ducks - 20+
DC cormorant - 2
Green-backed heron - 1
Greater yellowlegs - 2
Lesser yellowlegs - 5
Spotted - 4
Semipalmated plover - 3
Semipalmated sp - 5
Great blue heron - 60+ High count for the week is 105 on Wednesday by
Shannon Thompson from Pittsburgh, PA
Belted kingfisher - 2
Tree swallows - 20
Chimney swifts - 100+
Cooper's hawk - 1
Eastern kingbird - 2
