The room rate is actually $200 per night once you add in the "room tax" and "local tax," not to mention the additional $13.95 per night for internet access. That is an awful lot for what we got. I don't know if cheaper rates are possible these days, but I do think it is worth looking into.

Subject: Conference hotel rates
I written to the Executive Committee regarding the hotel rates in Denver . . .
rates that I regard as exorbitant. Perhaps I'll get an explanation soon.
If you agree that $169/night is overmuch, you might address the Committee
as well, and try to make sure it doesn't happen again. Maybe the new
officer, Carol or Dan, will take this issue seriously, and I expect Janine
will find affordable rates in Richmond (2010).
