I spent the better part of the day cleaning and doing maintenance on my Prothonotary Warbler Nest Boxes at the Hoover Nature Preserve. 100 done and 150 to go. Yesterday Ben Warner posted with regard to the fallout of migrants at Area L. Ben tallied 72 species including shorebirds in the not exposed cove off Dustin Road at Area L. Better late than not at all, the mudflats in most areas at the north end of Hoover Reservoir are finally emerging and the shorebird variety and numbers are beginning to get interesting. Some of the areas I was at today were Mud Hen Marsh, Oxbow Road, Wiese Road and the mudflats near Pelican Island.
