Hi Everyone;

It is about the time that you will be receiving updates about the annual conference, as all the preparations are in place, and panels and speakers are coming on board. I am getting excited!

In that light, please note that the Ethics and International Sections have changed dates
for the 2010 ALSB conference in Richmond. The International Section will
meet on Friday at lunch and the Ethics Section will meet on Saturday at
lunch.

In addition, I am pleased to pass on the following information from the
Ethics Section.

ANNOUNCING THE ETHICS SECTION SPEAKER: Richard Cohen, President of the
Southern Poverty Law Center, who will discuss  "The State of Hate and
Extremism in America."  Here is further information (from their website)
about the organization and their work:

The Southern Poverty Law Center is dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry,
and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of our society. Using
litigation, education and other forms of advocacy, we work toward the day
when the ideals of equal justice and equal opportunity will be a reality.

We employ a three-pronged strategy to battle racial and social injustice:

We track the activities of hate groups and domestic terrorists across
America, and we launch innovative lawsuits that seek to destroy networks of
radical extremists.
We use the courts and other forms of advocacy to win systemic reforms on
behalf of victims of bigotry and discrimination.
We provide educators with free resources that teach school children to
reject hate, embrace diversity and respect differences.
