Good afternoon,
The abstract submission system PACS is now open for abstracts for the spring
2011 ACS meeting in Anaheim. The deadline for submitting abstracts is
November 1.

There are several CHED symposia which might be of particular interest to the
CER community, one of which I am organizing. Please consider submitting an
abstract for this symposium:

Chemistry Misconceptions Research. Stacey Lowery Bretz, Miami University,
Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, Oxford, OH 45056. 513-529-3731,
[log in to unmask]

Misconceptions, alternate conceptions, preconceptions, naïve ideas all
synonyms for describing students¹ understanding of the concepts that form
the discipline of chemistry. This symposium will feature research to
investigate these understandings across the subdisciplines of chemistry,
including general chemistry, and across subjects from students to teachers
to textbooks. Abstracts and presentations should reference a particular
learning theory, description of research methods, and findings of the
research.

Thank you.
Sincerely,
Stacey
