I was in Cleveland Wednesday afternoon, and found time to stop by the Gordon park marina. It took just a few seconds to find the the Eared Grebe a short distance east of the boat ramp: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pauljhurtado/5599093564/ In addition to the many Ring-billed, Herring and occasional G. Black-backed Gull there was at least 1 Capsian Tern, a few Bonaparte's, at least 1 young (2nd cycle?) and 2 adult Lesser Black-backed Gulls, http://www.flickr.com/photos/pauljhurtado/5599518930/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/pauljhurtado/5598938053/ and two interesting "white-winged" gulls. The first was probably an Iceland Gull, but I'd be happy to entertain any arguments for a pale Thayer's: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pauljhurtado/5599092774/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/pauljhurtado/5598512373/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/pauljhurtado/5599093042/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/pauljhurtado/5599093296/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/pauljhurtado/5599093350/ The second was a "mostly" Glaucous Gull, showing faint patterns in the wingtips that suggest some Herring (or GBBG?) ancestry: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pauljhurtado/5599092480 http://www.flickr.com/photos/pauljhurtado/5599092594 Many Bonaparte's were visible from the parking areas further west (E 72nd St), however I had no luck turning up any other gull species.
