A friend once showed me a copy of a novel by a friend of hers who was from
London but had written about the Deep South.
I began laughing on reading the first page. She was from New England and
shared the author's confusion about got and gotten;
e.g. I've got to go. = I must leave now; I've gotten to go.... = I have been
allowed to see/attend/visit some event, person, or place.
