Hi all,
I was at the previously described Shelby County site and saw the Cassin's Sparrow tonight, with the latest sighting around 7:15 pm or so. The bird - based on our observations and other reports - does seem to be frequenting a fairly small and well-defined area. It also seems to be fairly consistent in its behavior, making regular trips to a small tree - the only one in the vicinity - to sit and look about, and sing on occasion. It does spend much time hidden in dense cover on the ground, so some patience is required.
I did manage a few photos of the bird, and took other photos of the habitat and other aspects of the site. These, along with some commentary, are on my blog at: http://jimmccormac.blogspot.com/
To add to others, my congratulations to Doug Overacker for a fantastic find!
Jim
