First time posting. I went to Atwood Lake and found the Brown Pelican, but
while searching I discovered a specie of Whistling Duck I am not familiar
with. I have seen White-faced, Fulvous and Black-bellied in the states but
this duck stumped me. The bird was hanging with a bunch of Mallards right on
the back side of the East Marina. I was told by an employee that they
thought it was a Ruddy Shelduck but after going over it in my head their
conclusion was not right. I did not have my camera and the bird appears to
be in either eclipse plumage or is a juvenile. If anybody can identify this
bird, I would greatly appreciate it.
