Dave did this program last year, as well. The White-Throated Sparrows
kept getting back in his net.
Saturday, February 9: 9am / Shawnee Prairie Preserve St. Rt. 502
Greenville, Ohio.
Pre-registration Required / Fee: $2 per person call 937-548-0165
Have you ever seen a bird with a colored “bracelet” on its leg or heard
of someone “banding” a bird and wondered why someone would do that?
This program will welcome Dr. Dave Russell, of the Avian Research and
Education Institute, to the Nature Center as we discover the use of bird
banding and how scientists use this popular technique. The Avian Research
and Education Institute (AREI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to
enhancing the preservation of avian populations. AREI is committed
to establishing biological stations that will provide bird banding and
environmental education to the public. After our informative lecture, we’ll
head to the bird banding station to watch as Dr. Russell bands our local
songbirds. Space is limited, pre-register early
