A quick trip to Greenlawn dam found the first-year Mew Gull still
occasionally visiting the spillway this evening. It was around when I
first arrived at about 4 PM, then disappeared, after which I walked
downstream along the Berliner park dike to check lower down the river.
When I got back at 4:45, it returned for a few minutes, then disappeared
again. So if you don't see it at first, wait around a bit.
Other birds along the partially open river below the dam included 6+ Great
Blue Herons, 35+ Hooded Mergansers, 3 Common Goldeneye, 1 Common Merganser,
and 1 Immature Bald Eagle. The forest had the expected woodpeckers,
Robins, and chickadees, but little else.
