Checked several areas around the southern portion of Delaware Lake this
morning, starting at RiverRun Park, and stopping at the Dam, PanhandleRd,
Leonardsburg Rd, and the Sherwood Boat launch area. Water levels in the
wildlife area are quite high, and it should be a great spot for shorebirds
and waders in the later part of Summer. The best viewing spot appears to
be the dike west from Panhandle Rd. Not too much to get excited about this
morning, but did find:

AmerCoot - at least one was in the Wildlife Area wetlands
Waders - a handful of Great Blue Herons and Green Herons graced the
Wildlife Area
Shorebirds - nothing here but Killdeer so far
Osprey - single birds were at the dam and at the Sherwood boat ramp
cuckoos - calling Yellow-bills were at Panhandle Rd and Sherwood boat ramp
Swallows - small groups of Trees, Rough-wings, Barns, and Cliffs were at
many locations.
Marsh Wrens - singles were singing at Panhandle Rd and Leonardsburg Rd in
the Wildlife Area
Warblers - Parulas were at River Run and below the dam, Yellows were along
Pandhandle & Leonardsburg Rds, and ComYellowthroats were abundant in the
wildlife area
Swamp Sparrows - at least 4 were singing along Leonardsburg Rd in the
Wildlife Area
Orioles - Baltimore females and juveniles were at many places along the
reservoir, while male Orchards were at River Run and the Dam.
