Went to Blacklick in the morning for a leisurely but somewhat quiet bird walk.
Warblers
Nashville
Ovenbird (H)
Am Redstart
La WT
B&W
Blk-thr Green
Hooded (H)
N Parula (H)
Blue-winged
BH Vireo
Red-eyed Vireo
Veery (incredibly cooperative for photos)
Wood Thrush
Swainson’s Thrush
Gray-cheeked Thrush
Cooper’s Hawk
Kingfisher
RC Kinglets
Wood Duck
Denison BR
When I noted 3 new yard birds, yellow and N Parula (previously only heard In yard) plus Red-eyed Vireo practically at the same time, I thought a trip to the Bio Reserve might be fruitful. Prob had the best birding I’ve ever had there at least for warblers.
I ran into a mixed flock on the Ovenbird trail and had several happy minutes trying to get on all the warblers which were at eye level or near the ground:
Black-thr Blue male (FOS)
Black-thr Green
Chestnut-sided
B&W
Nashville
Ovenbird
Yellow-rumped
Hooded (h)
Also had Red-eyed Vireo, RC Kinglet & a Veery Which was calling.
Added a couple more warblers as I continued:
Com YT
Yellow
Chat (h)
Brown Thrasher
Catbird
Wood Thrush
BG Gnatcatcher
Chimney Swift
E Phoebe (pair)
House & Carolina Wrens
Philadelphia Vireo—seemed too yellow for Warbling. FOS
All in all, a good birding day.
