I wasn't paying too much attention to this as 2 hours one way is pushing my
chase limit. But I decided to head up today afterall. I haven't had an Ohio bird
in awhile.....
Success! I was at the Oxbow rd. area of Hoover. I believe thats where
Peggy had yesterday, and Andrew suggested as one of the spots to
try for it. Gave me super looks when I finally picked up on it in flight.
It's the dark underwings. Uniform color above, rounder blunter wingtips -
than the Bonies. But its the underwing! I'll be curious whether I managed
a shot with my phone and scope. Sure.... digiscope a moving gull.....
I loved that area! The duck numbers and variety kept changing every time
I scanned for waterfowl! Ditto the gulls too.
This is not a big year bird. Way too far out of my 8 county area!
I want one at East Fork now. I keep scanning those Bonies when I
am there! Nothing. Yet.
The Snowy might be gone - moved on to better habitat? There were a
lot of negative reports from today.
Good birding all.
