I decided to chase the Cackling Geese. Joyce Park. County bird! I will hopefully
See next year also for my big year. As I was driving there, scenery started looking
Familiar. Turns out it is near that spot where the Rough winged Swallows were in
Dec. I hope they move on if they are trying to winter this year. Friday is going to
Be a bit chilly…….
One Merlin was hunting at Joyce Park. I looked up the Merlin account in Birds
Of the World. Not much on wintering habits. This one was perched in a couple
Bare trees. Hunting. No wonder I didn’t see any passerines!
Fernald next - it was close. Most water is already frozen there. All will be by Friday!
Lots of tree sparrows around. And a Winter Wren.
Good birding all.
