I went out to the land lab at sunset hoping I could see the five planet alignment but there were too many clouds on the horizon so I only saw Venus. But while I was waiting for the light to improve I heard at least one Woodcock peent and then later, the flight sound although I could not get on it as it was pretty dark. Also heard wood ducks flying to one of the ponds.
Red-shouldered Hawk adult was over Granville near my house this afternoon. Denison was quiet yesterday although there were a couple Tree Swallows flying over Swallow Field & checking out the bluebird nest boxes. First ones I’ve seen at the reserve this year. Pair of bluebirds perched on another nest box. Field & Song Sparrows plus towhees singing. At least one Black Vulture with a few TVs. 5 Wood Ducks flew over.
