     Nah...  There is nothing wrong with TALK on the VAX.
I have used Vax TALK with both the NeXTs and PHOENIX successfully, as well
as some remote sites.
     However, Vax uses the BSD4.3 implementation of TALK.  (that's Berkeley
Software Distribution)  If you are trying to communicate with a Unix
box with archaic apps, say BSD4.2 or earlier, you can use the /OLD
switch with Vax TALK...
