I need a reality check from anyone who has knowledge or experience with
"professional
continuing education" (PCE) courses in law at an accredited academic
institution. In this instance
"PCE" means a 2-week course, 6 hours of class time per day. It has carried
graduate credit based
in part on the American Council on Education's recommendation, and carries CLE
credit for any
students who happen to be lawyers.
My question concerns the status of the faculty members involved (all are
full-time faculty who have
practiced law): Should they be eligible for the traditional academic ranks
(professor, associate,
assistant) if they meet the usual criteria for those ranks? or does teaching in
the PCE format render
them ineligible for those ranks?
I suspect that the subject of teaching law in PCE format is probably of limited
interest to a narrow
segment of the group. Please contact me off-line at [log in to unmask]
Or, if you think it appropriate, feel free to share your insight with the group.
Either way, be warned
that I already have a list of related questions.
Thanks for your help.
