The NEWS server was having some performance problems yesterday. That would
account for the slowness of NEWS.
As to the slowness on the MIAVX1 system, I'm not aware of any problems (and
didn't notice much of a slowdown). We were running some fairly heavy jobs
yesterday, but they shouldn't have affected user performance significantly.
I'll keep an eye on it, though.
