> What is Miami's DNS name and IP number and what do they signify?

Here's my non-technical attempt at an answer :-) MCIS Networking or Technical
Support, please correct me where necessary ...

Miami University has a top level educational (.edu) domain name of muohio.edu
(preceeded by a machine and subnet name, when referring to a specific system
at Miami) and the Internet Protocol (IP) number range for muohio.edu is
134.53.*.*, where the first * is the subnet and the second * is the specific
number for a machine.

The IP number is a machine's address on the network, and the
machine.subnet.institution.domain name is an alphabetic translation of that IP
address.
