This is Win 95, right?  The screen you see indicates that you are
connected, and are ready to run your PPP applications.
 
Try running a TCP/IP application, such as Netscape or telnet.  If they
work, fine.  If they don't, then you actually have a problem
 
All that window that you're seeing does is give you a visual cue that you
are connected, as well as the ability to disconnect when finished.
