Miami Computing & Information Services (MCIS) will upgrade the University's
primary World Wide Web (WWW) server software Friday morning, 18 October 1996,
between 7am and 8am. During that time, all WWW services hosted on the
University's Digital OpenVMS cluster in Oxford, MiaVX1, will be unavailable.
The server software upgrade is being performed on an urgent basis, to address
bugs in the version we are currently running, which have resulted in
unacceptable performance of late. We expect to restore or exceed the strong
performance the now-multithreaded OpenVMS-based WWW server has been delivering
for Miami these last few years.
