Sheesh, I wasn't trying to start a flame war or anything here, which you
seem to want to do. I didn't mean to imply that Macs were better than PCs
or vice versa (though I do have an opinion, but that's not relevant
here‹and what does the number of one verses the other have anything to do
with it?), merely that I'm not that interested in PC posts b/c I'm a Mac
user. And I suppose you could link needing a file for your communications
software remotely to a WWW or NetNews newsgroup, but that's not really the
intention of these groups. You'll notice that both in this post and in my
original, I left out the mu.comp.modems newsgroup. I did so b/c it is a
relevent newsgroup; the WWW and newsgroups ones are not.

Also, my post was not a complaint that the mu.* groups were receiving three
posts per day. It was a complaint that the posts were not in the proper
groups. When you've been around news long enough, you'll learn that no
matter how much traffic a group gets, the regulars do not like to be
spammed. Doing so often results in the poster being flamed by messages
that make mine look like a call-for-peace.

Now, if you want to debate the merits of Mac vs. PC, I'll do so, so long as
you can keep it intelligent. If you just want to spout stuff about there
being more PCs, I won't participate (though I can spout plenty of usage
stats myself); I don't do newbie debates. In any case, these newsgroups are
not the place for it--we can take it to the advocacy groups.

I hate to tell you this, but nothing screams "newbie" more than correcting
people's spelling and grammer (how do you know that English is my first
language?). And, if you'll look at the group list, I believe you'll find
the following:

<news:mu.comp.os.windows-ms>

I'd say that's close enough. WRT me reading other groups, I do so b/c I
wish to. I like helping people when I can, and being helped when I need it.
The Mac group is focused on the Mac; sometimes, I have a question about
something else, so I post it in the related group since it's the Right
Thing to do. And because I am an active learner and ask a lot of questions,
I try to answer as many as I can to return the gesture.

Oh please. I almost always sign my messages that way (I really ought to
just add it to my .sig to make life easier). I think you're being a bit
childish here....

If you post further on this, I'll read, but I'm not going to reply any
more. This is already way out of line for these groups, and I have no
intentions of continuing it.

Regards,
Bob
