It has been two years since I have been to the national meeting so if the
following has been changed I apologize for wasting everyone's time. But...

A couple of years ago I asked the moderator of the teaching symposium (name
withheld to protect the innocent!) how the participants (Are they called
"master teachers"?) are selected for the program. The response was that
there was no formal application or submission process, and that the
moderator just "picks the participants from those they know", which I
assumed meant their friends. This struck me as odd and sounded
uncomfortably like a "good ol' person" network. I suggested at the time
that a more objective selection process be established. Is there now one? I
haven't seen any mention of it in the newsletter or elsewhere, but I could
have missed it. If there is a procedure for submitting a proposal for the
symposium where is announced? Anyone know?

Again, if this is an obsolete issue I apologize for using up bandwidth.

Keith
