In response to Keith-
Years ago I coordinated the first two teaching symposiums (symposia, if
you prefer; Webster says both are OK) and I sent out calls for
proposals. Participation wasn't limited to friendship then; I hope it
isn't now. We did contact known teaching award winners and encourage
them to submit proposals. If we are in a "good ole person" process now
I'd like to see us return to a nomination or application process.
