MONGEAU ANNOUNCES COMMUNICATION STUDIES
EDITORIAL POLICY

Paul Mongeau has been named the editor of Communication
Studies responsible for the 1998-2000 publication years (i.e.,
volumes 49-51). Mongeau (Ph.D., Michigan State University, 1988)
is an Associate Professor of Speech Communication at Miami
University in Oxford, Ohio. He takes over from Kevin Barge
(Baylor University) who has filled his page allotment.

Communication Studies is committed to publishing high-
quality original scholarship that focuses centrally on human
communication processes. Articles published in Communication
Studies represent the diversity of scholarship that compose the
study of human communication, regardless of its philosophical,
theoretical, or methodological underpinnings. Communication
Studies is particularly interested in publishing essays and
reports of studies that make important and noteworthy
contributions to the advancement of human communication.

Communication Studies follows a policy of masked, peer,
review. Manuscripts will typically be read by 3 reviewers.
Manuscripts are assumed to be original, verified, unpublished,
and not under consideration by other publication outlets. To
insure a masked review, no author-identifying information should
be included in the text and references.

Authors should submit four copies of the manuscript while
the original copy should be retained. The manuscript should be
double-spaced (including references, tables, figures, and
appendixes). An abstract of 120 or fewer words should accompany
the manuscript. Manuscript and reference style should conform to
the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association
(1994, 4th edition). Upon acceptance of the manuscript for
publication, authors must submit high quality camera ready copy
for all artwork and figures and must assign copyright to the
Central States Communication Association. Communication Studies
will not publish any material for which the assignment of
copyright to CSCA is withheld.

A separate title page must accompany each manuscript. In
addition to the title and author(s) of the manuscript, an author
note should include a short biographical summary of each author
(including full name and professional title). If any portion of
the manuscript has been presented in other forms or in other
forums (meetings), details on the occasion and form must also be
included. Any manuscript drawn from a thesis or dissertation
should be so indicated in the author note with the name of the
director identified. Finally, provide a full mailing address
(including electronic mail address) only for the corresponding
author.

Queries and manuscript submissions should be addressed to
Paul Mongeau, Editor-Elect, Communication Studies, Department of
Communication, Miami University, Oxford, Ohio 45056. He can also
be reached at 513.529.7413 (office), 513.529.7171 (department),
513.529.1268 (fax), or [log in to unmask] (electronic mail).
