Greetings,

My name is Dave Shardell, and I am the Treasurer of the Associated
Student Government. I have created a listserv which includes the
Treasurer and President of every registered student organization on
campus (at least, those who included their email addresses on their
organization's registration form).

The purpose of this listserv is to allow me to keep you informed of all
deadlines in the Student Organization Funding Procedure and to answer
any questions about funding. Also, I will be providing information about

the Student Initiative Fund and the Marketplace of Ideas Fund. Mary
Ringenbach, the VP for Management, and Chair of the Marketplace of Ideas

Fund Committee, and member of the Student Initiative Fund Committee, is
also on this listserv.

I have set up the listserv so that any messages you send will first be
sent to me. The reason I did this is because there are some 350+ people
on this listserv, and the potential for misuse is great. Therefore,
there is no need to be concerned that you will receive 20 messages a day

that don't concern you, you will only receive messages relevant to
student organization funding.

Not all of the organizations on here are likely to be eligible for
regular funding. These groups may, however, be eligible for the
Marketplace of Ideas Fund, and may be eligible for the Student
Initiative Fund as well. If you do not think that your organization will

be applying for funds from any of these sources, or for whatever reason
you are not interested in the information that will be presented on this

listserv, then let me know and I will promptly remove you.

That said, I would like to inform you of some good news: the Online
Funding Application is finally working! We had some major technical
problems, because we tried to change some things in the program that we
discovered could not be changed. At any rate, go to:

www.muohio.edu/asg/

and click on "Funding" on the lower left hand side of the page. This
will take you to the Eligibility Form. Here you will answer questions
that will determine your organization's eligibility to receive student
organization funding. I SUGGEST THAT YOU READ THE ASG BYLAWS, IN THE
STUDENT HANDBOOK, PAGE 72 FOR ALL OF THE CRITERIA, especially since you
will be asked whether or not you have done so.

Next, you will have to complete the Budget Form, categorizing your
group's expenses and revenues from last year, this year, and next year
(estimated, of course). This will also include your request from ASG.

Both of these forms must be submitted to us online, AS WELL AS signed by

the Treasurer and the Advisor of the organization and turned into the
ASG office by December 4th. I apologize for the fact that your time in
which to complete the Funding Application has been cut short by almost
two weeks, but I feel that you should be able to complete the required
forms by December 4th.

While I could go on, elaborating further about the funding procedure, I
would rather allow you to submit your questions to me. While you can
reply to the listserv, and the message will get to me, I would much
prefer if you would send it directly to me: [log in to unmask] I will
then post responses to the most relevant and repeated questions.

Thank you for your time. Again, please notify me ASAP if you would like
to be removed from this listserv. And fill out your funding
applications!

Dave Shardell
