Re: Poetry Reading by Terri Ford and Janet Holmes
Terri Ford and Janet Holmes will be reading their poetry for the Miami community in Bachelor 101 at 7 PM on Tuesday, December 1, followed by a question-and-answer session and book-signing.
Terri is a fixture on the Cincinnati performance poetry scene and organizer of the most important local non-academic reading series at the York St. Cafe in Newport. She knows all her work by heart and gives a highly entertaining performance of her poems! Terri earned an MFA from Warren Wilson's low-residency program and has published her poems in various journals and been featured on Aralee Strange's recent feature film This Train. She has been the subject of full-length profiles in Cincinnati CityBeat and in Antenna: a Magazine of the Arts. Last year Forklift Press produced a tape of her poems, "Six Deadlies and One Sorry Ass," which will be available at the reading. My students who have had the opportunity to hear Terri have enjoyed her readings immensely.
Janet Holmes is visiting from Minneapolis. Her third book of poems, The Green Tuxedo, has just been published; her previous book, The Physicist at the Mall, was chosen by Joy Harjo for the Anhinga Prize.
I hope you will encourage your students to attend.
