Hello everyone,
As many of you know, last spring my mother experienced some neurological
problems and was eventually diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. A few
months later a specialist at Johns Hopkins reviewed her case and concluded
that she probably had an isolated episode of myelitis. So far, a year
later, this still seems to be true. Her symptoms have resolved and we are
hopeful that this really was an isolated event.
Through this experience I came to understand what families go through when
someone is diagnosed with a chronic disabling disease. In honor of the
families that were not as fortunate as mine, I am going to the MS Walk at
Hueston Woods this Saturday. If anyone is interested in making a donation
or walking with me, please let me know. The walk is 6 miles long and
starts at 9:00 am. I will leave my pledge sheet in my box (contributions
are tax deductable). Checks can be made to the National MS Society, which
funds education, advocacy, research and local support programs that enhance
the quality of life for individuals with MS and their families. My goal is
to raise $100, so every little bit helps.
Thank you for your consideration. Enjoy the rest of the semester, it will
be over before we know it!
Suzanne
