I"m sure there are many more, but one valuable work I found was a Master's
thesis at Queen's University in Kingston, Canada, by Brian Traynor
(completed circa 1991). It was about the temperance rhetoric in 19th
century Ontario. I have the title here somewhere, but I can't seem to find
it. If you check out Queen's library system, search on the name; I know
they have it in their archives.
