Are the following sentences correct?

(1-a) I'll ask a number of distinguished people to the party.
(1-b) I'll call a number of distinguished people to the party.

(2-a) He asked for thirty thousand dollars for the car.
(2-b) He asked thirty thousand dollars for the car.
(2-c) He called for thirty thousand dollars for the car.
