Dear Friend,

Periodically, the Maine Memory Network sends an e-mail announcement of a
new online exhibit. The Maine Memory Network, a project of the Maine
Historical Society, is an online museum of historic documents, images, and
artifacts, contributed from collecting organizations across the state. The
exhibits often are linked to holidays, dates in Maine History, or other
timely events.

exhibit, "The Maine Woods":

Today's featured online exhibit offers a taste of the newest gallery
exhibit at the Maine Historical Society, "Umbazooksus and Beyond: The
Maine Woods Remembered." Focusing on written and photographic memories of
Maine woods trips taken between 1890 and 1932, most of the accounts are
part of the collections of Maine Historical Society. Accounts by various
travelers have helped to spur on trips by others interested in emulating
the adventures.

February is never to soon to begin warm-weather vacation dreaming and
especially Maine woods dreaming. Maine's woods continue to draw visitors
who hike, canoe, climb, camp, hunt and fish.

Thank you for your continuing interest in and support of the Maine Memory
Network and the Maine Historical Society. The MHS is a private non-profit
organization dependent, in large part, on the support of its membership.
If you would like to help us sustain the Maine Memory Network, as well as
receive many other benefits, please consider becoming a member. Just go to
http://www.mainehistory.org/support_membership.shtml

We hope you enjoy this exhibit -- and your vacation dreaming.

Sincerely,
The Maine Memory Network
