"An old friend of President Bush who secretly recorded their private conversations and released them to the media said he has regrets and is turning the tapes over to Bush . . . . "Contrary to a statement that I made to the New York Times, I have come to realize that personal relationships are more important than history," Wead wrote in a letter. . . . "

Maarja's comment: I dare say most of you shuddered when you read about Mr. Wead secretly taping conversations. I've never liked the practice of taping when done without the consent and knowledge of all parties, unless there is a darn good legal reason for doing it.
