Michelle, In a former job, when I worked for a university, I had my archives used as part of a scavenger hunt, one time, as part of a "team building" activity. Basically the people came down to me bearing their "clue" and I pulled the box for them, so they could see whatever it was, and then handed them their next "clue". The clue was something the sponsoring department had made, not an archival document! I ask because the University Archives staff here at Marquette has for a number of years participated in a semiannual luncheon on campus honoring those employees who are celebrating service anniversaries (5, 10, 15, etc. years of service). We have provided an ice-breaker activity for the luncheon featuring a university history trivia contest and accompany this with a display about the university's history. These activities receive high marks from attendees, create much discussion about campus history, and raise awareness of the archives on campus. However, we're now though the 5-year cycle where individuals who have been honored earlier will be honored again, and we need to prepare a new activity with a similarly interactive component. Any alternative ideas would be most welcome - ideally, the activity would have some interactive component allowing those who attend to work together, get to know one another a bit, and learn more about the university's past. Thanks in advance for your creativity and ideas. Michelle Michelle L. Sweetser Archivist Marquette University Special Collections & University Archives Raynor Memorial Libraries 1355 W.
