We had a panel discussion on this issue at the LA SAA meeting in 2003 and a related one in 2004 in Boston. The first one was taped the second one was not.

WHOOAAA ! This IS a sensitive topic! Maybe someone out there will be eager to have a panel or give a workshop on this at the Summer SAA! Seriously. Some of uslive inparts of thecountry that have a "culturally sensitive history," and perhaps, professional guidelines need to be suggested!

Subject: Culturally sensitive materials

I am writing a paper for class, attempting to address an ethical dilemma
pertaining to archives. The issue access/restriction to culturally
sensitive materials within archival collections came to mind but I haven't
been able to find many articles on the subject. Does anyone have some
recommendations?
