March 17, 2006 Dear Fellow Archivists, My archive is currently facing the replacement of our temp control and humidification system. After numerous salespersons’ presentations, the maintenance supervisor and I have many questions, hence this message. Are any of you currently using a Liebert system, and are you satisfied with it? Has it been necessary to add vapor barriers to your interior walls to negate the absorption of humidity into them (in our case cement block walls). Have you found it necessary to take similar (vapor control) measures with the floors and ceilings? Has anyone found it necessary to add additional humidification, via a supplemental humidifier in the ducts, to boost the moisture content in your archive? All insights will be gratefully appreciated. Sincerely, Jan Durecki, Archivist Rabbi Leo M.
