Is there any way you can afford more *shelves*? In one section of our library we have industrial shelving (deep) with many shelves just 2-4 inches apart. One folio or double-folio publication per shelf. Should work for flat doc cases too. Overall, it takes up only a little more vertical space than stacking books/boxes on top of each other in a 1-foot high space. |((| Ellen Chapman, MLS, MA, CA |))| Archives & Manuscripts Department |((| University of Hawaii at Manoa Library |))| (808) 944-7656 On Tue, 21 Mar 2006, Bethke, Neil wrote: > What is considered best practices for stacking oversize flat boxes? > > Ideally I would build separate shelves for each flat, eliminating playing "musical chairs" when retrieving flat oversize. > > Practically though with our limited space we have to stack but only go three high depending on materials weight. > > Neil Bethke > LMU Archives > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Archives & Archivists [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of Valerie A.
