Who's Your Daddy?
By JERRY BRITO and BRIDGET C.E. DOOLING
Before you can legally use a copyrighted work, you must get the
copyright owner's permission -- but finding him can be a tricky and
sometimes impossible task if he dies, moves away, changes his name,
writes anonymously or sells his copyright to another. Witness the legal
tangles awaiting the unwary at the local photo shop. Most diligent
employees will prevent you from making cheap copies of professional
studio photos because, if they are under copyright, doing so can lead
to a lawsuit by the photographer. While such diligence is good in
theory, imagine that you bring your parents' professionally taken
wedding pictures to a photo shop for restoration.

Irving boosts UD in Bush library hunt
Traffic studies, hotel data, tourism agency helping small school
compete, documents show
By ERIC AASEN / The Dallas Morning News
RVING - How can a small Catholic university with no presidential family
ties remain in the hunt to win the George W. Bush library?
It might be luck. It could be location. But one of the most important
reasons could be the partnership that the University of Dallas has
formed with Irving.
Documents released Tuesday afternoon to The Dallas Morning News paint a
clearer picture of that relationship, as well as UD's efforts to land
the library. They show how the university has worked behind the scenes
to survive the cut, competing with more prestigious colleges to become
one of three finalists. And they show that both UD and Irving have much
at stake - and much to gain.

Visitors passing on presidents' libraries
If Dallas wins Bush site, it still must build an attraction worth trip
09:39 PM CST on Thursday, March 23, 2006
By COLLEEN McCAIN NELSON / The Dallas Morning News
As the competition for the George W. Bush presidential library heats
up, interest in White House history could be cooling off.
Attendance at most presidential libraries and museums is down - way
down, in some cases. The number of visitors is declining at eight of
the 11 libraries, including both sites in Texas.
