Title: Photo archivist, part time

The American Jewish Historical Society seeks an experienced professional to
provide photo reference and reproduction services, maintain and preserve
its photography collection and catalog photography collections into an
image management database(Digitool) in preparation for digitization.

The position requires an MLS or equivalent degree in photography archives
management. Candidate should have 2-3 years experience in a photographic
archive or the equivalent; knowledge of archival processing and cataloging;
experience in the creation and organization of digital files and knowledge
of copyright laws and practice. Strong organizational and interpersonal
skills, the ability to work with little or no supervision are essential.

The American Jewish Historical Society was founded in 1892.  Its
photographic collections dating from the 1850’s to the present day reflect
the Jewish American experience.  Access to the collection, to academic
researchers, writers, publishers and filmmakers, primarily, is provided by
appointment.

Salary commensurate with experience
