The Austin Public Library/Austin History Center is accepting
applications for the position of Archivist at the Librarian III
level. The Austin History Center is a division of the Austin Public
Library, City of Austin, Texas, with a focus on providing excellent
service to customers.

This position manages the Archives and Manuscripts Collection Unit
and includes work with the public in the Reading Room helping
researchers of all ages access materials concerning Austin and Travis
County, Texas, as well as work leading teams of staff and volunteers
in organizing and processing materials for the archives and
manuscripts collection unit.

The City of Austin offers a quality of life that many believe is "the
best of the best," is known for it fine system of parks and trails,
low crime rate, and abundance of music and talent in the arts. Just
this evening, I heard City of Austin Mayor, Will Wynn, voice these
attributes of the City in ceremonies honoring over 11,000
citizen-volunteers on the plaza at City Hall.

People interested in working at the Austin History Center will find
and aggressive public service program, opportunities for work in
leading edge efforts to design and build institutional repository
services for the City Archives, and talented co-workers with
specialties in various aspects of archival enterprise and administration.

We anticipate that the Austin History Center will be advertising for
additional positions in the near future.
