*** Conference announcement *** The International Association for Social Science Information Service and Technology (IASSIST) invites your participation in its 32nd annual conference to be held May 23-26, 2006, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The conference will be preceded by workshops and followed by optional weekend activities in the Ann Arbor area. Please register for the conference in advance (early registration closes April 21). Online registration is available: http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/iassist/registration.html The 2006 conference theme, Data in a World of Networked Knowledge, highlights the role of empirical data in a society that wishes not only to know itself, but also to build an enduring, interconnected storehouse of knowledge for learning and research. IASSIST offers a time and place to explore, enlighten, and energize the participation of data professionals in the networked information world. Topics will address the full range of digital data life cycle issues, including those that focus on access, documentation, dissemination, preservation, data use and current empirical research activity. IASSIST's annual conferences, which also take place in Europe and Canada, are relevant to data managers, creators, and users, as well as librarians, archivists, and other information professionals who have responsibility for providing support for the curation and use of research data, especially in the Social Sciences and other observational disciplines. Plenary addresses (one each morning) will be made by Daniel Atkins, Julia Lane, and Robin Dale (with discussants Bjorn Henrichsen, Robert Groves, Cynthia Cook, and David McMillen), followed by concurrent sessions, an electronic poster session Thursday afternoon, and a Friday lunch presentation by John P. Wilkin. See http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/iassist for the full program and social events. Details about the association may be found on the IASSIST Web site: www.iassistdata.org We look forward to seeing you in Ann Arbor this May. For the Program Committee, Peggy Adams (Margaret O.
